Subscription Forms

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Subscription forms are essential tools for growing your audience and managing newsletter sign-ups. They allow subscribers to easily join your mailing lists and help you organize communication effectively. By customizing these forms, you can ensure a smooth and user-friendly subscription experience.

Create/Edit a subscription form

  1. Create a subscription form by clicking on Recipient Settings in your Recipient section of your home environment.

  2. Select the Subscription Forms tab.

  3. Click New form to create a new subscription form.

  4. Name Your Form - Assign an internal name to your form (not visible to subscribers).

  5. Select Mailing Lists - Choose the mailing list(s) available in the form.
Create multiple forms if you need separate forms for different mailing lists.

Edit Form Content

Edit the content of your form by dragging modules from the Add tab (left-hand menu) into the form area.

Modules for system objects

  • Heading - Form title (also used as browser title).

  • Name - Textbox for subscriber’s name.

  • Password - Textbox for subscriber password (used for login and managing subscriptions in APSIS Pro).

  • Manage Subscription - Link to login page for managing subscriptions.

  • Unsubscribe - Button that the subscriber can use to unsubscribe.

  • Email Address Policy - Link to your email policy (editable text).

  • Country Code - Textbox for country code (used for SMS). The country code will be used together with the mobile number when sending SMS via APSIS Pro.

  • Mobile Number - Textbox for mobile number (used for SMS).

Modules for Demographic Data

  • Drag fields created under Recipient Settings » Demographic Data into the form.

Edit, Remove, or Hide Modules

When you want to edit a module, click on the module and make changes in the Edit tab. Here you can edit for example the label of a module and add a preset value to a form field.

In the Edit tab there is a delete icon that can be used if you want to remove a module from the form, as well as a Hide/Show module icon. By hiding a module in the form you can set a preset value for the module which cannot be seen or changed by the subscriber. For example, which mailing list(s) the subscriber will subscribe to through this form.

Note! Remember to click Yes to confirm that you want to hide a module.

Form Settings

Open the Settings tab to adjust the form settings.

  • Form Name
Internal name that is not visible to your subscribers.

  • Use confirmed subscription (double Opt-In)
Enable confirmed subscription in your subscription form to active double Opt-In. When new subscribers sign up through the form, they will receive an email asking them to confirm their subscription. Until they confirm, they will remain in the “Pending” list of the mailing list they subscribed to. These subscribers will not receive any mailings until their subscription is confirmed.

  • Use only HTML as delivery format
Select this option to use the newsletter’s HTML format as the default delivery format. The delivery format module will be hidden in the subscription form, and subscribers will not be able to choose the text-only version.

  • Display Header and Footer
Select this option to apply your header and footer to the subscription form for a consistent graphical layout. Configure the header and footer code under Recipient settings » Header/Footer.

  • Include JavaScript error check on email addresses
Activate this feature to enable email address validation in the subscription form. If an incorrect format is entered, an error message will appear, and the subscriber will not be able to complete the subscription until a valid email address is provided.

  • Use Google ReCaptcha to protect against bots
Enabling Google reCAPTCHA on your subscription forms helps prevent spam and automated sign-ups by ensuring only real users can submit the form. This improves the quality of your subscriber list and protects your system from abuse. It also enhances security and builds trust with your audience, while reducing the time spent cleaning up fake entries.

Form Code

Go to the Code tab to view the code of the subscription form as well as the direct link of the subscription form. Once your subscription form is ready, copy the link or the code and paste it where you want them.

Example:

  • Linking to Newsletters: Copy the link for each subscription form and add it to a “Subscribe” button or link in your newsletters. This makes it easy for readers to sign up for more newsletters they’re interested in.

  • Embedding on Your Website: Copy the generated form code and paste it onto the relevant pages of your website. You can then make additional changes to the code as needed, such as replacing the form confirmation page with an external confirmation page and/or updating form fields to mandatory fields.

Form preview

Open the Preview tab to get a preview of the subscription form, without the header/footer that you might have added in your form settings. To view the entire subscription form, with header/footer, use the link in the Code tab.
