Setting Up a Birthday Automation Flow

Automating birthday emails helps you connect with subscribers on their special day and keeps your engagement personal and timely. These flows keep your messages timely and make every subscriber feel valued. Adjust settings to fit your marketing goals and keep those birthday wishes coming, year after year!

Follow these steps to create a birthday flow:

  1. Click the Create New Automation flow button.

  2. Choose the predefined Birthday flow, or build a custom flow to fit your needs.

  3. Enter a name for your Birthday flow to keep things organized.

  4. Add the Birthday email in the Send Email node. This is the email your subscribers will receive. Remember that the Birthday email in APSIS Pro needs to have been converted into a Transactional email for you to be able to use it.

  5. You will notice that the Listen node is based on Match Date. Select the mailing list you want the flow to listen to.

  6. Pick the Demographic data field containing subscribers’ birth dates. Set when the birthday email should go out, such as on the exact date or days before.

    If you want the email sent ahead of the birthday, open the settings for the Listen node and specify the number of days before the birth date. For example, enter “5” to send the email five days before each subscriber’s birthday.

  7. To have the birthday email sent every year to the subscribers, tick the checkbox labeled “Tick if your end date should be ignored.”

  8. For recurring birthday email send-out, select Unlimited In Flow settings to allow subscribers to pass through the flow multiple times.

  9. Fill out rest of the information in the Flow settings. Save the settings and activate the flow.
