What is a Bounce?
A bounce occurs when an email cannot be delivered to a recipient's inbox. This can be for several reasons, such as the email address not existing, the inbox being full, or the message being blocked by the recipient's server. In Apsis Pro, the List Bounces feature helps you see which email addresses could not receive your emails. Monitoring and handling these addresses help you keep your lists reliable and improves the success rate of your messaging.
How To Find The List Bounces Feature
1. Log in to Apsis Pro.
2. In the Home environment, go to the Recipient section.
4. Click on the cogwheel in the section, Recipient settings.
5. Click on the List Bounces tab. This is where you can view and manage bounces.
How To Search For Bounced Addresses
Within the List Bounces section, you have several ways to search for bounced addresses and choose how to handle them:
By time frame
Use the Start date and End date fields to select the period you wish to search. This limits the search to addresses that bounced within that time frame.
By bounce type
Use the drop-down menu to pick the type of bounce you want to find. Available options are: - All bounces - Hard bounces (permanent delivery issues, often invalid addresses) - Soft bounces (temporary issues like full inboxes) - Technical bounces (problems with mail servers) - Other bounces
By email address
If you want to look for a specific recipient, enter their email address in the Email address field.
After setting your search criteria, click on Search. All matching results will appear in the list under Emails, at the bottom of the screen.
How To Remove Or Block Bounced Addresses
Bulk Removal
You can remove several bounced addresses at once based on how many times they have bounced.
Use the drop-down menu labelled Delete all addresses with to select a threshold, like 1+ bounces or 10+ bounces.
If you want to make sure these addresses never receive emails, tick the Add deleted subscribers to the Opt-out all list check box. This blocks them from future email attempts but keeps a record, so they will not be added accidentally again.
When you are ready, click the Remove button. All selected addresses will be removed according to your rules.
Handling Individual Addresses
The Emails list will show all bounced addresses, with the number of bounces for each. Here, for each address, you can:
Delete a single address.
Reset the bounce count for that address if you believe the issue is fixed.
Did You Know?
Using the option Add deleted subscribers to the Opt-out all list makes sure that, even if someone tries to re-add a bounced address, it will not receive future emails. Always tick this option before removing an address if you want to block it reliably.
Note: Deleting addresses cannot be undone. Only remove or block contacts if you are sure they should not receive your messages.
Example Use Case
For example, if you notice several addresses have bounced due to being invalid, set your search to the past month, select Hard bounces, and bulk remove all addresses that bounced more than once. This keeps your list healthy.
